There seems to be a lot of confusion and misinformation about checking and setting the wastegate actuator's spring tension or pre-load.
Some cars left the factory with incorrect settings. In these cases power and other factors can be improved by adjusting this to the correct setting.
In other cases people are trying to increase boost by adjusting this above the factory value. This can sometimes make a short term change until the ECU sees what's going on. If the ECU can't adjust boost as it wants via the wastegate it will start to close the throttle or take other measures, so trying to adjust boost this way is not very effective. Set it at the factory specs.
