Natural Remedy 5:- In 2007 the December issue of ‘Pediatric Clinics of North America’ published a review stating that some people have food sensitivities to certain foods that, when eaten, might make them more prone to anxiety or mood instability.
According to the article, seafood, gluten, wheat, corn, dairy, eggs and nuts are amongst the most common allergy producing foods. Mood swings can also be caused by food additives.
Caffeine, found in coffee, chocolate, many teas and soft drinks is a stimulant which increases heart rate and blood pressure. Caffeine also competes with adenosine, a chemical which under normal conditions inhibits central nervous system activity, the presence of caffeine stimulates the central nervous system leaving those with a predisposition to anxiety feeling quite anxious.
If you suspect foods as being a trigger for your anxiety it is worth writing a diary and listing all the food that you eat everyday and look for a potential link between your diet and anxiety or panic attacks. If you find a link, simply eliminate the food source and see what happens. Sometimes a big problem can be solved by a simple solution.
Foods containing sugars (almost all processed foods are high in sugar) should be avoided if you are prone to anxiety induced or exacerbated by food intolerance's. Alcohol is another substance that should be limited if not avoided altogether.
