Want to brush up on your birdsong? Here are the calls of some of the most common birds in British gardens. Every spring male birds will sing during the early morning to attract a mate. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds said that in the past most people would have been able to identify the most common songs. In contrast the more recent generations find it more difficult to know how to identify any song beyond the obvious sound of the cuckoo and the wood pigeon.
