See/Hear is an interactive and participatory light installation that dynamically reflects and expands the pursuits within the Music Department at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Permanently installed in 2014, the project continues to expand by design - students are invited to record their own music, create field recordings, and gather experimental music and sound art to populate an archive of sounds that drive a massive scale version of an equalizer sound spectrum analyzer. Created from thousands of LEDs driven by microcontrollers, the light is responsive to the sound spectrum of audio managed by an embedded Raspberry Pi. A display panel with an HD display screen allows passersby to view information about the current audio track and plug in common headphone jacks to listen to the audio they see reflected in the wall of See/Hear.
